Architectural Simulation Specialist
The University of Idaho, Integrated Design Lab (UI-IDL) in Boise, Idaho has an excellent opportunity for an Architectural Simulation Specialist to work in a dynamic academic research and professional outreach setting committed to reducing energy use in buildings while supporting high quality design and ensuring exceptional levels of human comfort. The UI-IDL conducts research and outreach projects in areas of energy efficiency and human factors related to the design and operation of daylighting, passive and hybrid cooling, and alternative heating and ventilating systems. Results from research activities feed into professional collaborations with architects and engineers on new construction projects and major renovations providing a living laboratory for the application of new strategies. Research feeds practice, practice feeds research, and both mesh with education and training.
The Architectural Simulation Specialist will lead variety of building performance simulations including but not limited to solar, daylight, and energy/thermal aspects of the built environment. The incumbent will both lead small projects and work under and coordinate with major project managers; collaborate with external design teams on performance analysis; organize and coordinate efforts of Temporary Hourly (Irregular Help) and student researchers; prepare manuscripts, reports and presentations to disseminate research results.
The UI-IDL is a member of the Pacific Northwest University Lab Network, a semi-formal collaborative relationship held between the Boise lab and labs at the University of Oregon in Eugene and Portland, the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington State University in Spokane, and Montana State University in Bozeman.
